                                             Chocolate Chip Pie

1 cup of sugar,
3 eggs (well beaten)
, 3/4 cup of pecans,
 1/2 cup of coconut,
1/2 cup of flour,
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate bits

Every Thanksgiving my mom and I make chocolate chip pie. There is this one thanksgiving when it fell on November 21, witch is my birthday. I was turning 13 and I was such a little kid and so excited. My uncle John and his wife and kids were coming down all the way from Texas. When I woke up the day before I felt horribly sick, my head was pounding, my throat was swollen, and there had been a rash on my stomach. I had stept throat for sure and I felt horrible. It sucked consedering my birthday, Thanksgiving, and my family were all the next day. I was also suppose to help my mom make chocolate chip pie since it was our thing to do.
The next morning my parents came in to tell my "Happy Birthday" with a big plate of breakfast. I remember still feeling like I got ran over by a bus. Even though I was sick I still wanted to help cook. First I washed my hand and put on a face mask so that no one could possibly get sick. I got out all of the ingredients: sugar, flour, eggs, margine, vanilla, chocolate chips, pecans, coconut bits, and the unbaked pie shell. My mom usually does the measurments because I always mess them up. We need 1 cup of sugar, 3 eggs (well beaten), 3/4 cup of pecans, 1/2 cup of coconut, 1/2 cup of flour, and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate bits. As she is preparing the ingredients into cups and things there is a knock at the door.
"HELLO" very excitley I heard my Aunt Tasha practially scream. They all piled into the house at once it was Uncle John, Aunt Tasha, Michelle, and Wayne. They all settled there stuff into the rooms that they were sleeping in when Uncle John came in with a big present. Well it was big at the time, of course it was my birthday present. It was box shaped and it was wrapped in pink and grey wrapping paper that had happy birthday all over it. "You have to wait until we finish the pie" my mom said. I was eger to open it but I knew that I had to finish the pie.
I put the sugar, flour, eggs, margine, and vanilla into a large red bowl, and got the blended out and plugged it up. It was a little hard to blend it because the bowl was practically bigger than me. I did this for 7 minutes, after I was done with that I poured the bag of chocolate chips, the pecans, and the little coconut shavings in the bowl and started blending those for another 6 minutes. There was flour and batter every where, on my face, on the counter, even on my mom, but I was in a hurry to get this pie done. I finally poured the batter into the unbaked pie shell and set the oven on bake at 350, I didn't even let it preheat that day I just stuck the pie in there. I ran to the kitchen table and tour open the present they had got me. It was a karoke machine that, looking back now its pretty stupid but I guess I really wanted it. We took it into the living room and hooked it up and all the kids took turns playing with it. I left the pie in for 30-35 when the timer had beeped to get it out. Even though I was sick it still ended up to be a good birthday/Thanksgiving.

Switching Roles

                                                            Role Reversals
Role reversals in the family is an increasing trend. This works for many families. There are advantages and disadvantages of switching roles between the husband and wife.
There are many advantages to switching roles the traditional roles of husband and wife. One, advantage to switching roles is women are making more money. According to the USA today article. Women make more money than  men 28% of the time. In 12 million households wives earned more than their husbands. Another, advantage of switching roles is role reversal may be a better personality fit for the husband and wife. Being a woman doesn’t always mean being a stay at home mom. Some women prefer working instead. Not all men want to be the bread winner. They prefer to stay at home and raise the kids. This is acceptable.
There are also man disadvantages in switching roles between the husband and wife. One disadvantage is once established in the role as a bread winner it may be harder to switch back if desired. When children come along the wife may decide she wants to stay home. This may not be financially possible if she is the main provider of income and health insurance. Also, another way it may be harder is the men may find out he feels like he should be providing financially for the family because of long time traditional roles. Traditionally, the man is supposed to be the “bread winner”. In the USA today articles examples included men who felt their role as a housewife was a disappointment.
The traditional role of husband as bread winner and wife as a stay at home mom is a thing of the past. Role reversal is increasing. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. It is up to the individual couple to decide what is best for them.
